GOING THE DISTANCE - FIGHTING BURN OUT
Lately the theme with my students has been "Burn Out"! Going to school, especially as an adult student is very stressful. It is hard to balance work, home, kids, bills and still find time for school. In this economy, everyone is trying to find a better way to make money and have a secure job. Going to school, thou, is not a quick fix to a financial problem. It is a long haul commitment. It WILL pay off in the future, but you have to have time to invest in it now. I believe students, in their effort to get it done now, tend to overload themselves. They take on way too much, too fast and they burn out quickly. You may be able to do a few semesters at a fast clip, but you will never be able to go the long haul if you spend your school schedule completely overloaded. It will effect your grades, your health and your sanity. It will also end up costing you more money in retaking classes that you were not successful in and ending up taking you more time in school than if you had just taken it slow. So my advice to ALL students is: SLOOOOOOOOOW DOWN. Take only what you can handle and be successful in what you take on. You will spend less money, get done quicker and end up not hating school. Good Luck to all.
